Yun: The Korean Journal of Transplantation’s quantum leap toward becoming an international journal for the advancement of Asian transplantation
After its new start as an English-only journal and remodeling of its English homepage, the Korean Journal of Transplantation (KJT) has undergone several changes. First, the number of manuscript submissions is remarkably increasing. In addition, more overseas authors have submitted papers. Thus, in the most recent issue of the KJT, for the first time in the journal, we published a review by Professor Ikegami from Japan. Now, in the editorial line, several manuscripts by foreign authors are being reviewed, and another article by an international author will be published in the current issue.
We have promised to speak for the society of Asian transplantation and contribute to the development of transplantation medicine in Asia. To achieve this purpose, we prioritize the publication of articles that focus on specific ethical, legal, and regional problems related to the development of organ transplantation, as purely scientific reports do not address these aspects adequately. We have reviewed another international article related to transplantation ethics and expect more submissions from Korea with ethical themes.
In this issue, we published 10 articles, including eight original articles and two case reports. By virtue of the annual meeting of the ATW (Asian Transplantation Week), the volume and quality of submissions to our journal have remarkably increased. We published more than 10 articles in the last two consecutive issues. We have made every effort to shorten the time of registration of our journal in the SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded) database. With that said, our publishing committee are doing their best to make the KJT a qualified and useful journal of transplantation.
This year, the academic society will be facing difficult circumstances. Many academic meetings may not be conducted as scheduled or may be canceled due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. While social distancing is imperative at this time, I recommend that our colleagues from the Society of Transplantation summarize and present their achievements in clinical and basic transplantation in a paper and submit this for publication in our journal.
Thank you.
