Kang, Pyun, and Kang: Posterior-Fracture Dislocation of the Femoral Head

Abstract

A case of traumatic fracture dislocation occurred in the left femoral head is reported.
The c ass was a 35 year old male who sustained the trauma on the left leg by traffic accident (Dash-board injury).
X-ray study revealed pDsterior fracture dislocation of the femoral head with retained medial head fragment.
For this injury, at first closed reduction was performed uniar gsnsral anssthssia ani reduced, the femoral head in the acetablum, but head fragment was not reduced in the remaining head. And so, after several days, opsn redaction was performsd acconpaniei internal fixation with iliac bone pegs (two).
The head fragment was attached to the synovial leash (retinaclar) but not attached to the ligamentum teres. At post-operative X-ray and follow up study after removal of the cast immobilization revealed accurate reduction and gained the slight limited range of motion.
