A case of acute ergotism with angiographic demonstration of bilateral femoral artery involvement is reported.A 27-year-old married woman was admitted because of sudden onset of severe pain in both flanks and lower legs,followed by numbness and coldness of the skin on both legs. The attack occurred after the administration of ergottartrate as postpartum care. Femoral arteriography was performed on 10th day of illness with the Seldingertechnic. The femoral arteries were generally smaller in caliber than normal. There was no definite evidence ofocclusive disease. Findings were more or less symmetrical and extended to lower legs where only fine branches werevisualized. The final diagnosis was diffuse vasospasm due to acute ergotism with secondary occlusion of thearteries of lower leg bilaterally.
