Abstract
Percutaneous transcatheter intraarterial chemotherapy was utilized to treat primary tumor in 22 patients with osteosarcoma. The results were assessed by clinical, radiographic, and pathologic responsed. Eighteen of the 22 patients remain continuously disease free for 6 to 18 months after initial diagnosis. Pulmonary metastasisoccurred in 2 patients with limb salvage surgery, and one patient had a local recurrence during maintenancechemotherapy. This method is safe and effective in the preoperative chemotherapy of nonmetastatic osteosarcoma, and also promotes limb salvage surgery.
