Joo, Byun, Lee, Kim, Lee, and Mok: Efficiency of Coloposcopic Examination in Abnormal Cervical Cytology

Abstract

And this study was performed to evaluate the diagnostic value of colposcopy in the investigation of cervical neoplasia. The results were as follows, 1. The mean age of the patients was 44 years. The satisfactory group consisted of 91.3% and unsatisfactory graup consisted of 8.7%. 2. In 126 patients of satisfactory group, the accuracy of cytology was 80.2%(within l histologic degree). The falae positiue rate was 7.1% and false negative rate 12.7%. 3. In 126 patients of satisfactory group. the accuracy of colposcopic impression was 92,1% (within 1 histologic degree), The faJse positive rate was 1.6% and false negative rate 6.3%. 4, The histology of colposcopically directed biopsy was accurate in 98.5% (within 1 histologic degree). The false positive rate was 0% and false negative rate 1.5%.
