Hyoung, Kim, Choi, Park, Park, Oh, and Baik: A Case of Lymphoepithelioma - Like Carcinoma of Uterine Cervix

Abstract

Lymphoepithelioma is originally described as a neoplasm in the nasopharynx. Tumors with histologic features similar to those of nasopharyngeal lymphoepithelioma have been identified in anatomic sites other than the nasopharynx, sush as the salivary gland, lung, thymus, and stomach, and have been termed lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma(LELC), Recently, this type of tumor has also reportedly appeared in the uterine cervix and has shown a better outcome than the usual squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix. The etiology and pathogenesis of this neoplasm in the cervix is not clear. We have experienced a case of lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma of uterine cervix and report with brief review of literatures.
