Abstract
We have experienced 12 patients with femoral neck fracture developed in childhood since September, 1983 and followed up for more than 1 year. According to Delbet and Colonna classification, there were 10 type II (transcervical), 1 type III (cervicotrochanteric) and 1 Type IV (intertrochanteric) fractures. Of the 12 cases, 9 were of traumatic and 3 were of pathologic fractures. Displaced fractures were treated mostly with closed reduction and internal fixation. And undisplaced fractures were treated conservatively. By Ratliff's scheme of assessment, 4 cases(33%) were of good, 7 cases(58%) of fair and 1 case (8%) of poor results. Coxa vara deformities developed in 6 cases(50%), of which 4 cases were those which were transferred from local clinics after variable length of delay. And avascular necrosis occurred in 2 cases(15%) whose treatments had been delayed for 5 days and 7 days, respectively.
