Chung, Yoo, and Kim: The Cleavage Intercondylar Fracture of the Femur: Report of One Case

Abstract

Isolated fractures of the femoral condyle are rare, usually caused by direct violence to the region of the knee. One or both condyles of the femur may be fractured, with the fracture line extending into the knee joint causing hemarthrosis. Femoral intercondylar fracture in which a vertical fracture line is present, without separation of condylar bone fragment is very rare and reported only three cases in literature. The authors added one case of the cleavage intercondylar fracture of the femur.
