Hahn and Jung: Ewing's Sarcoma of Entire Humerus Combined with Pathologic Fracture Treated by Segmental Resection and Replantation

Abstract

Malignant bone neoplasm of the shoulder girdle can be surgically treated by a forequarter amputation, shoulder disarticulation or Tikhoff-Linberg procedure. Among them, the Tikhoff-Linberg procedure showed not only preservation of the remained upper extremity but also the excellent functional results. We report a case of Ewing's sarcoma on the entire humerus combined with pathologic fracture, treated by the Tikhoff-Linberg procedure involving the entire resection of the humrus. We have obtained the excellent functional results of reconstructed shoulder, forearm and hand.
