Lee, Kim, Yoon, and Park: Clinical Study of Treatment of Ischimc Iimb Aided by Measurement of Segmental Blood Perssure by Doppler

Abstract

The decision of level of amputation and wound healing depend on local vascularity. There are many effors directed toward identifying reliable predictors of wound healing in ischmic limb including measurement of the segmental blood pressre by Doppler ultrasound. We measured the segmental blood pressure by Doppler ultrasound in 20 cases and used it as a guide to decide level of amputation and the following results were obtained. 1. Primary wound healing was obtained in all amputation cases. 2. Unnecessary higher amputation could be avoided in 12 cases. 3. The ischemia level varied much even though the necrosis was confined to foot only. 4. Segmental blood pressure measurement by Doppler was useful method for decision of level of amputation and prdiction of wound healing.
