Lee, Chae, and Lee: Tendon Transfer in Radial Nerve Palsy

Abstract

Loss of radial nerve function in the hand is a significant disability. Loss of active wrist extension leads to failure of stabilization of the wrist and thus to impairment of grasp and especially power grip. The tendon transefers to restore function in radial nerve palsy are one of the best and most predictable methods of treatment in the upper extremity. Authors have experienced 5 cases of tendon transfer for radial nerve palsy associated with extensive soft tissue injury and humeral fracture from February 1987 to June 1992. The results were satisfactory and acceptable.
