Lee and Ku: Diagnosis and current treatment of Müllerian duct anomaly

Abstract

This is a comprehensive overview that comprises embryology, diagnosis, classification and treatment of Müllerian duct anomaly. Despite its ill effect on obstetric outcomes, a large number of patients remain undetected. Recently the roles of magnetic resonance imaging and 3D ultrasound in diagnosis are highlighted in addition to conventional ultrasound and hysterosalpingography, etc. Corrective surgery, especially for septate uterus, is proven to have dramatic effects on obstetric prognosis, therefore accurate diagnosis and proper management cannot be overemphasized in Müllerian duct anomaly.
