Abstract
24 cases of surgically proven ovarian teratomas were analized. 1. The most prevalent age group was 3rddecades(57%). 2. The size of most tumors falls into 5-15cm(96%). 3. The site of involvement was more common onleft side than right. 4. Well developed teeth or bones were identified in 9 patients on simple abominalfilms(39%). 5. Ultrasonographic findings of the tumors were purely cystic in 3 cases(12.5%), mixed in 15cases(62.5%), and solid in 6 cases(25%). 6. Among mixed typed masses, predominant cystic tumors were 11 cases, andthe remained (4 cases) were predominantly solid type. 7. Various ultrasonic findings were seen such as hair-fluidlevel, linear echoes, scattered echoes, nodular intermixed dense echoes, papillary echogenic mass, andcalcifications. 8. Echogenic nodular foci on nondependant portion were considered to be a helpful diagnostic signof ovarian teratomas.
