Yoon, Min, Kim, Oh, Chung, Park, and Seo: Ganglion Cyst in Acetabular Fossa of the Hip Joint - Case Report -

Abstract

Ganglions commonly occur on the hand, wrist, knee, ankle and foot, with occasional development around the hip joint. Ganglion in the acetabular fossa is rare. We present a case of a ganglion in the acetabular fossa of the hip with treatment.

Preoperative images (A) axial T2-weighted image shows high-signal intensity within acetabular fossa (arrow) at the hip, (B) axial T1-weighted image at the same level shows low or intermediate-signal intensity, (C) axial T2-weighted image slightly inferior to the panels A and B shows fluid extending distally within acetabular fossa, (D) axial T1-weighted image shows more distal acetabular fossa (E) coronal T2-weighted image shows a well defined lobulated contoured lesion displaying high-signal intensity (F) coronal T1-weighted image shows extent of the cyst from acetabular fossa to acetabular notch.
