Abstract
Several methods for treatment of the chronic calcaneal osteomyelitis has been reported. Soft tissue flaps were used to fill the dead space after curettage. And then autogenous bone grafting is performed to maintain mechanical integrity as a second procedure in case of large bony defect. So at least two operations have to be done and the total duration of treatment is long. We hereby report three cases of chronic osteomyelitis of the calcaneus preceded by surgical treatment of calcaneal fracture which were treated successfully through simultaneous operation of extensive curettage and bone graft. Pin tract infection around Steinmann pin used for axial fixation occurred in two out of three cases.
