Choi and Jung: Posteromedial Release for Congenital Clubfoot

Abstract

The authors have reviewed 28 resistant culbfeet of 18 patients who were treated by modified Turco's operation at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, In Je University Paik Hospital from January, 1980 to May, 1989. The analysis of the end results according to talocalcaneal indices and first metatarsotarsal angle were as following: good 82.1%, fair 7.1%, poor 10.8%. The follow-up period was minimum 12 months and maximum 6 year 11 months, the average being 20.5 months. The average age at the time of operation was 21.2 months, the youngest being 5 months and the oldest being 5 year and 9 months. The results were as follows:1. The male and female ratio of the clubfeet patient was 2.5-:, bilateral 10 cases. 2. Good results were obtained in 23 feet (82%). 3. The additional procedures were performed according to age, clinical finding and main pathology.
