Kim, Park, Kang, and Han: Osteomalacia: One Case Report

Abstract

Osteomalacia and rickets are syndromes of diverse etiology, characterized pathophysiologically by a failure of normal mineralization of bone and epiphyseal cartilage. Rickets occurs in growing children. Osteomalacia occurs in individuals in whom growth in height has ceased, so that the manifestations are often far less marked and the diagnosis is more difficult than with rickets. In this paper, we report a case of osteomalacia, that was considered as pathologic fractures due to malignant metastasis, but finally confirmed as a osteomalacia.
