Yoo: A Suggestion of the Practical Guideline for the Prevention of SARS to Health Care Workers

Abstract

As severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is nowadays a great threat to the health care workers, a practical guideline for the prevention of SARS is necessary. Because SARS is regarded as a droplet infection, handwashing is the most important component of individual precaution. Though the possibility of airborne infection is not elucidated yet, N95 respirator or surgical mask is also necessary for the precaution. Some practical recommendation for the precaution of suspected or probable cases of SARS was presented. An appropriate management of health care workers with unprotected exposure to SARS was also suggested.
