Yang, Kim, and Kim: Serum immunoglobulin concentrations in the patients with cancer of the cervix

Abstract

Serum immunoglobulin levels(lgG, IgA, IgM) were estimated in 16 patients with cervical cancer, 9 patients with cervical intraepithelia1 neoplasm and 10 healthy contro~ls matched for age and parity. The values were analyzed aceording to clinical stage, histologic cell type and lesion size. There were no significant differences in the mean levels of IgG, IgA and IgM among the 3 groups. 1n patients with cervieal cancer, the mean levels were ot significant change according to clinical stage except IgG which showed the decressed tendency at the higher stage. According to cell types, the all mean levels were not different between squarnous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. According to lesion size, the mean levels of IgG, IgA were not different in all lesion size, but the men level of IgM showed the increased tendency in the less than 3cm. These results suggest that the serum imrnunoglobulin levels ean not be used for the immunodiagnosis and prognostic parameters in cervical cw~icer patients without the further investigations.
