Abstract

Adenocarcinoma arising in an augmented bladder is a relative rare neoplasm. We report here on 2 cases of adenocarcinoma that developed in augmented bladders 23 and 30 years after ileocystoplasty, and both tumors were associated with contracted bladder due to tuberculosis. We also reviewed the literatures related to neoplasms occurring after urinary diversion procedures. (Korean J Urol 2006;47:1016-1018)

Ultrasonography or the bladder shows a 3cm sized nodular hyperechoic density along the right inferior wall.

Computerized tomography (CT) shows a 3x2cm sized bladder mass along the right lateral wall and no evidence of pelvic lymph node enlargement.

Microscopic finding shows well differentiated adenocarcinoma with tubulopapillary structure and a mucin pool (H&E stain, x100).

Microscopic findings shows adenocarcinoma with intestinal metaplasia and severe glandular atypia (H&E stain, x100).
