Greetings from the new Managing Editor of the Journal of the Korean Academy of Dental Health. I have undertaken my responsibilities as Managing Editor with the commencement of a new government and a new dental association.

Over the years, the Journal of the Korean Academy of Dental Health has been publishing peer-reviewed articles to highlight research achievements in the area of dental health science; however, recently, we have faced some challenges in the field. The recent crisis of research reproducibility has given me an opportunity to re-think about the significance of conducting scientific research. I believe that if our journal remains as a space for publication of quality research studies in dental health science, readers would love to read its contents.

This particular issue covers a wide variety of research articles, ranging from studies with fresh approaches in dental epidemiology and dental health systems and policies, to traditional studies. Although this was not intentional, I wish that the diverse array of research topics presented in the issue expand the interest of the public in dental health science, and thus aid in improving public dental health.

I express my thanks to everyone who let me volunteer as a Managing Editor, especially for a journal with such a long-standing tradition. I would also like to thank the researchers who submitted high quality manuscripts despite their busy work schedules, as well as the reviewers for reviewing the manuscripts meticulously. Finally, I would like to thank our readers for dedicating a part of their precious time to read the journal.
