Kwon and Bahk: The Development of Korean Medication Algorithm for Major Psychiatric Disorder

Abstract

Recently the clinical practice guideline and medication algorithm for several disorders have been developed and distributed for an optimal treatment as evidence-based medicine. The Korean Medication Algorithm Project for Major Psychiatric Disorders was initiated by the 'Korean College of Neuropsychopharmacolgy' in fall 2000, and later the 'Korean Academy of Schizophrenia' joined the project. This article reviews the advantages and limitations of the guideline and the algorithm in general, and specifically reviews the design, process and method of development of the 'Korean Medication Algorithm Project for Major Psychiatric Disorders'.
