Kil, Lee, and Nam: Retraction note to: "Clinical Significance of the Axillary Arch in Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy"
All authors would like to withdraw the article because they have found a mistake in selecting subjects for this study. Some patients underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy following sentinel lymph node biopsy were selected inadvertently as the study subjects, despite those who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy should be excluded from this study, and most of them were also considered as the sentinel lymph node failure group because these patients underwent axillary dissection regardless of the results of sentinel lymph node biopsy.
Although a reanalysis of corrected data still demonstrated higher failure rate of sentinel lymph node biopsy in the patients with axillary arch than in the patients without axillary arch (4.2% vs. 1.2%), the difference of sentinel lymph node biopsy failure rate between two groups became statistically not significant (p=0.076) and as a result, the original conclusions have been compromised.
We deeply regret the mistake to review the patient's medical records carelessly.
The following authors agreed with this retraction decision: Won Ho Kil, Jeong Eon Lee, Seok Jin Nam.
